Originally from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Domonique Loryne Green is a creative strategist and storyteller who graduated cum laude from Howard University’s Chadwick A. Boseman College of Fine Arts in 2021. At just 14, she was named one of Houston’s Top 100 Young Professionals. Her career spans across culture, media, and technology, with experience at leading institutions including the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture, The Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting, Tinder, Apple, and more.

PaperTag is a creative platform and digital residency program amplifying stories at the intersection of culture, place, and community. Through editorial features, short films, and in-person activations, PaperTag spotlights emerging artists, curators, and collectives shaping local creative ecosystems. The platform prioritizes underrepresented voices and offers residents creative and editorial support to bring their visions to life. Each month, PaperTag publishes new work that explores the nuance, history, and innovation rooted in everyday cultural spaces.

As a Texas-registered nonprofit, PaperTag originally launched in 2020 and relaunched in 2025 with an expanded mission and multi-city presence—including hubs in Houston, Boston, the DMV, Detroit, and Oakland.

PaperTag exists to preserve, promote, and produce creative culture across mediums and cities. It serves artists, curators, cultural workers, and community members—particularly those whose work is often underrecognized—by providing intentional coverage, curated experiences, and collaborative platforms.

Through its monthly “digital tags,” PaperTag bridges the gap between underground creativity and mainstream recognition—offering space for celebration, connection, and archival storytelling.

Domonique applied to the BuildHER Business Pitch Contest to gain visibility, sharpen her business vision, and secure critical support. If awarded grant funding, she plans to:

• Obtain 501(c)(3) status to strengthen fundraising capacity and nonprofit infrastructure

• Support future art projects and events led by the Houston hub

• Launch creative workshops, public storytelling installations, and multimedia content that highlights local culture in real time

🚧 The Challenge of Being a Woman in Business

For Domonique, the greatest challenge has been access to consistent funding and institutional support. As a culturally focused, woman-led nonprofit, breaking into traditional funding circles has proven difficult—limiting PaperTag’s ability to scale, hire, and build sustainable systems.

“Despite the demand for what we do, it's been a challenge to scale our operations, pay collaborators equitably, and invest in the tools and infrastructure we need to grow... But what keeps us moving is the belief in what we’re building—and the communities we serve who constantly affirm the need for our work.”
